Hi I’m Febe
I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and raised in one of the poorest parts of the city. At 12 I moved to the United States without knowing the language or how to navigate a new system.
I became the first in my family to graduate from college in the United States and later earned a medical degree. Something I had worked toward for much of life.
But after medical school, as I stood at the threshold of residency, a question began to emerge: Is this it?
I had reached the thing I had been working toward. And yet I found myself wondering whether there was more to life than moving from one achievement to the next, going to work, coming home, and waiting for the weekend.
I decided not to pursue residency.
What followed wasn't a clear new direction. It was, in many ways, a period of being in between. I was no longer following the path I had spent years preparing for, but I didn't yet know what was next. At times, I even felt uncomfortable calling myself a doctor. A doctor where?
It was during that time that I met my mentor, Rob White. Our conversations created a space for met to look at myself and begin to recognize who I was Being. In that space, I began to question what I had come to believe about myself, what I was capable of, and what I considered possible. Through our work together, I began to experience myself in ways I hadn't before, and to see the role context plays in shaping how we experience ourselves.
Rob and I eventually wrote Losing Weight Can Be Your Fate together. What began as a conversation about weight loss became an exploration of something much larger: the relationship we have with ourselves and how that relationship shapes how we experience our lives.
That inquiry is still at the center of my work today. I’m a speaker, facilitator, and coach exploring how the context from which we live shapes how we experience ourselves, and ultimately how we lead, engage, and connect. I create spaces for people to pause, question what they may have taken to be true, and experience themselves in new ways.
